The feather = The white feather was in the opening of the film and end of the film first it was in his suitcase and at the end of the film it fell out of little forests book curious George which was forests favourite book that his mother used to read to him when he was a child. and floated away the feather symbolized the cycle of life and death and how the cycle is finally finished and has now been passed on to his son in the ending of the film. the feather also symbolized destiny when the feather floated away in the ending of the film it had no destination, had no clear destiny it was just blowing in the wind and going to where it was going by chance. the feather is represented to jenny. blowing in the wind- song both of the characters are blowing in the wind like the feather. the feather is kept safe in the curious George book like how jenny is kept safe by forest.
“life is like a box of chocolates” = the meaning of the quote is that you never really quite know what you’re gonna get, the variety and the unpredictability of life. That life’s like that also, as it’s unpredictable. his mother told forest that to prepare him that he shouldn’t expect the unexpected. forest goes through with everything even things he might not like but jenny, on the other hand, keeps picking and changing what shes doing.
Running = running was a way to escape the fraze “run forest run” was used many times throughout the film to get Forrest run away and escape the things that could hurt him. Jenny was always trying to run away from her abusive past. Forest was trying to run towards jenny and find his ‘destiny’ not knowing who or what he wanted other than Jenny. running got Forrest places, it got him into the football team which then took him to college, then to the army. running was Forrest biggest strength without him even knowing. every time Forrest runs/runs away its because/stimulated by jenny.
“seats taken” = this occurs when he is on the bus for his first day of school when no one would let forest sit with them, he felt out of place and not wanted. This occurred later on in the film when Forrest went to go into the army. the people that let him sit next to them become important in his life.
soundtrack = you can defy the odds, you be something great, you don’t have to be the mould you are put out to be. the creator used iconic sounds.
allusion/curious George = forest Gump gets into trouble like curious George but they both always to manage to find their ways out. at the beginning of the film the feather gets put into the curious George book it was as forest was keeping it safe, like forest keeping jenny safe.
historical moments = it gives us the idea it’s based on truth, gives us information on the setting what America was like back then and what was happening.
